Latte stone or latte means pillar or haligi in Chamorro language, capped by a hemispherical stone capital or tasa with the flat side facing up. These latte stone was used as building supports by the ancient Chamorro people and can be found almost all over the Mariana Islands. According to some studies, the inland latte sites were temporarily occupied and then change in burial practice in the latte period. 2. Orote Point was an old name for Point Udall now. It was named after Morris “Mo” Udall (former Arizona congressman) in May 1987. They change the name of this spot to honor the accomplishments and service of the said congressman. Point Udall was the site of an airfield before and during World War II which was built by the United States. It was later abandoned and taken over by the Japanese during the first Battle of Guam on the 8th of December year 1941.
