Guam Talafofo Activities. guam travel, In the southern part of Guam, between the villages of Inarajan and Yona is the village of Talofofo located. The village probably derives its name from the phrase “entalo’ i fe’fo’,” which means between the cliffs. Often called “God’s Country” (former Mayor Tito Mantanona coined this name) by the villagers, Talofofo has one of the most popular annual fiestas on Guam. With a population of approximately 3000 as of year 2000, Talofofo is country living. The majority of the village consists of single-family homes (some with spectacular ocean views) built on larger lots. Talofofo is home to two golf courses, Talofofo Golf Resort and Country Club of the Pacific. Plus famous tourist spots like Talofofo Bay (long been considered one of the most popular surfing sports on island ), Talofofo Falls, Talofofo Caves, Ipan Beach Park, Jeff’s Pirates Cove, and many to mention. Talofofo is 30+ minutes to the US Naval Station. It is flanked by both the ocean and rolling hills, and is blanketed by lush green vegetation during most of the year. This is the village that was the home of the now famous World War II Japanese straggler, Sgt. Shoichi Yokoi, who was found deep in the jungle by two Chamorro hunters who were out checking shrimp traps.
